Job Description

Job Responsibilities:
* Lead the formulation development process for new products, from concept to commercialization, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives.
* Design and optimize formulations based on customer requirements, market trends, and technical feasibility, utilizing knowledge of chemistry and materials science principles.
* Conduct literature reviews, market research, and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends, technologies, and ingredients for product innovation.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory affairs, to coordinate product development activities and ensure successful scale-up and commercialization.
* Perform laboratory experiments and analytical tests to evaluate the performance, stability, and safety of formulations, interpreting results and making data-driven decisions.
* Troubleshoot formulation issues and develop solutions to overcome challenges related to ingredient compatibility, stability, and processing.
* Document experimental procedures, results, and findings in technical reports, formulation documents, and regulatory submissions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain awareness of industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to product formulation, safety, and quality, and incorporate relevant guidelines into formulation development activities.
* Mentor and train junior staff members, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise to foster professional development and knowledge sharing within the team.
* Continuously evaluate and optimize formulation processes, techniques, and equipment to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of formulations.
Qualifications:
* Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
* 5 years of experience in formulation development, preferably in cosmetics.
* Strong knowledge of chemistry, materials science, and formulation principles, with a focus on polymer chemistry, surfactants, emulsions, or other relevant areas.
* Experience with laboratory techniques and analytical methods commonly used in formulation development, such as spectroscopy, chromatography, rheology, and microscopy.
* Familiarity with regulatory requirements and guidelines governing product formulation, safety, and labeling, including FDA, EPA, or other relevant regulations.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot formulation issues and develop innovative solutions.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, demonstrating leadership, initiative, and adaptability.
* Commitment to quality, safety, and compliance in all aspects of formulation development.
